06.10.11 Dinner

Even after several years of a photography project in 4-H, my picture taking skills are still lacking. I was always better at composition and not the technical aspects. This dinner was tilapia, pasta salad, and oranges. I had planned to grill the fish, but the weather didn’t cooperate, so it was pan-fried instead.

  1. I know you’re not necessarily looking for pointers, and I don’t know what camera you used- but it’s blurry in part because of your Aperture setting. A lower number (ie 2.8) makes for a shallow depth of field, so only a little bit is in focus. A bigger number will make it so everything in your photo is in focus (in turn, you’ll need to somehow get more light- by slowing down the shutter or changing your ISO).

    1. Yep. Just like in the rest of my life, attention to detail is not my strong suit. That’s what I have Andy for…

    2. I dunno what went on. The flash was obviously on, and for the most part, we keep the camera on “Auto,” so it should have worked. I think she just focused on the pasta salad and then moved the lens over toward the middle of the plate.

Either way, the food was good. đŸ™‚
