Sorry for the delay in food postings, but I get easily sidetracked. Last Friday’s dinner was fried chicken, mashed potatoes and milk gravy, and “grandma” corn.
We’ve been eating since then, I just forgot to document it! Saturday we had company so I made baked pork chops, macaroni and cheese, green beans, applesauce, and chocolate pie. Sunday we had bean soup and cornbread, and last night we had breakfast burritos and yogurt. Exciting, huh?!?
I hope Meg will grow up understanding where “grandma” corn came from. Will be a way for her to know her great-grandma! 🙂
Dinner looks yummy. Who was the Saturday company??
I actually get quite excited about breakfast burritos!
What is “grandma” corn? It looks like what my mom has made but since we didn’t call it this, it must come from Andy’s side.
Mom may remember differently, but this is how Kristen and I always referred to sweet corn off the cob. As in, not from a can. To this day, I can’t stand corn from a can…may even be worse than green beans… But frozen sweet corn off the farm? Can’t be beat. 🙂
We just tended to get frozen stores of corn from my Mom’s mother (“Grandma on the Farm”), certainly in the ’80s and well into the ’90s. The name stuck.
oh yeah…the contrast on your plates looks good!
to Andy: PLUS when a Grandma finds out you LOVE something — and it’s something you don’t often get at home — Grandma will tend to make certain you get it from her – Often! Makes you love that Grandma even more. Funny how our children come up with these “names” for everyday items that stick. I’m sure Diana and I will find things for your children that they love which we can give them every time they come visit!!
and Diana is right — those bright colored, solid plates really do show off food well.
All the Fiestaware are down on the bottom of the shelf now ’cause we have so much! Not complaining, of course. Statement of fact. 🙂
